Come visit us at Historic Grounds to plan your special event! You will find a small, quaint, stand-out bakery and coffee shop in the Village of Metamora. Historic Grounds was established in 2013, however, our building was established in 1872 with an identical addition being built in 1901. The buildings have been brought back to their beautiful red brick throughout and updated. We have the old and the new. Our tables are antiques along with antiques for sale, but we offer WiFi and some of the best baked goods and coffee around.
Metamora is famous for our courthouse where President Lincoln practiced as a young lawyer. The village was even mentioned by name in the Oscar Winning film (2012), "Lincoln". We also have one of the last standing court houses where President Lincoln practiced law.
Our bakers take pride in preparing all made from scratch baked goods right there as you walk in the door. We have some of the best cinnamon rolls around that are made every morning. We also have a host of other items in our bakery cases that are second to none.
Since opening the doors in 2013, Historic Grounds has since become a place to meet and gather with your friends. We have hosted many different types of parties from baby showers, bridal showers, graduation parties and even just some plain old birthday parties from 1 year old to 85.
You will enter into old time charm and a warm atmosphere of being welcomed by our employees. A feeling of taking a step back in time.
If you book a party with us, you will have the room to yourselves, to decorate as you please. I've always wanted to provide a place to basically say "it's your party"! I work with you to stay within your budget and we have a full catering menu for you to choose what you want - not what is on someone else's menu. If you're looking for a unique place to have a gathering of any kind, stop in or give us a call to reserve a date. We look forward to hearing from you! 309-367-4500
